Marilyn Lamb

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go,” Joshua 1:9.

As a wife of 25 years, mother of three, and a school bus driver, Marilyn Lamb lived life to the fullest. She grew up in Caneyville, KY, and ended up settling there to raise her family. Faith is a huge part of her life as she is very active in their church, Flatwoods Church of Christ.

In her free time, Marilyn enjoys gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She considers herself a people person and is a big part of the community. She never imagined how quickly her life could change, “I’ve always tried to stay healthy,” she explained.

While driving her vehicle one afternoon, Marilyn had a sudden stroke. She hit an electrical pole and was life-lined to the UofL Hospital. She remained there for a week and decided to go to Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital to continue her recovery.

Upon her arrival, Marilyn had trouble completing all self-care. She couldn’t hold her head up and had no control over her movement. Strong in her faith and determined to get back to better, she never gave up. She spent seven weeks at SKY and made tremendous progress with the help of her therapy team.

Marilyn and her daughter, Beth, praised SKY stating, “The nurses and therapy team were so good to me. They encouraged me every single day and never gave up on me. I could not have recovered without my faith, courage, my family, and SKY. I’m ready to go home and see my dog, Max. Thank you, SKY Rehab for getting my life back.”

Dedicated to her recovery, she will continue to work hard with home health and her supportive family. She looks forward to getting back to her independent lifestyle with her loved ones by her side.
