Neuro Rehabilitation Program

Adjusting to life with a neurological disorder is difficult, but rehabilitation can help.

Rehabilitation programs benefit individuals suffering from neurological conditions as a result of trauma or injury, as well as those with acute or progressive debilitating disorders. The Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital team helps individuals with such conditions work toward improving their mobility, self-care abilities, communication, cognition, and independence.

At Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital, we develop a custom treatment plan for each individual we serve. Treatment goals may be related to:

  • Strength and endurance.
  • Coordination, balance, sensation, and vision.
  • Cognition and communication.
  • Speech and swallowing.
  • Mobility, transfers, and self-care activities.
  • Medication or pain management.
  • Safety and lifestyle changes.

Through Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital’s neuro rehab program, patients have access to:

A safe healing environment.

We provide 24-hour nursing and daily physician management. Board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, also known as physiatrists, lead our hospital’s care team. Our skilled medical professionals are trained to treat neurological conditions. They can monitor for complications, provide medication management, and address pain so that patients can safely and fully participate in their therapy programs.

A personalized, comprehensive rehabilitation program.

Rehabilitation is our specialty. Our team of rehab experts will develop a custom rehabilitation program for each patient based on their specific goals and abilities. We offer physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy services to address impairments caused by neurological conditions. Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital offers a spacious therapy gym, state-of-the-art equipment, and functional living areas. Functional living areas are spaces specially designed to simulate a home environment. Here patients can safely practice newly learned therapy techniques and prepare for returning home.

Our speech-language pathologists are skilled in working with patients suffering from neurological conditions. They are available to help assess and work with patients who have had changes in their nutrition needs, swallowing, communication, or cognitive abilities. Our consulting psychiatrists/psychologists may also work with individuals who have experienced cognitive or behavioral changes.

The support and resources needed for success.

Managing a neurological condition can be difficult. Our team is here to help patients and their family members through the physical, emotional, and social changes they may experience. Our social work and case management employees work hard to make sure each patient and their family members have the support they need before leaving our hospital.

Our services are provided by a team of skilled, compassionate medical professionals. Learn more about our interdisciplinary team approach.
